The springtime season is here and it’s time to celebrate with your family. Generally, this time of year coincides with all kinds of seasonal fun. Getting outside, enjoying springtime sporting events, hiking, boating, and other fair-weather activities are all excellent reasons for your family to enjoy the spring season. But what about the four-legged members of your household? While your pet might notice the different decorations and sense something different in the air, it is a nice gesture to do something special and bring your pet into the fold. Take a Springtime Walk or Hike

The long, cold winter is finally over and spring is here. What better way to celebrate than with a long walk with your dog? You can enjoy the new life growing and your dog will love all of the interesting smells. If you live near any hiking trails, now is the perfect time to take advantage of them! Make sure to take all proper safety precautions; if you’re walking in the evening, take advantage of reflective or light-up leashes, harnesses, or clips to make sure that any passing drivers can see your dog. You spend plenty of time every year making sweet treats for you, your family, and your friends to enjoy – but what about your pet? There are plenty of pet-friendly dessert recipes out there. Some of them are incredibly easy to make and require minimal ingredients. You can even use springtime cookie cutters for an extra special touch. Whip up a batch of delicious Easter treats for your furry friend and watch them go wild!

Plan a Photo Shoot

Spring flowers and new growth make for absolutely stunning pictures. Schedule a photo session with a professional photographer – or a friend with a camera – to capture the beauty and charm of your furry friend in a beautiful springtime surrounding. Whether you’re hanging them in your home or posting them on social media, these photos will be keepsakes you can treasure for years to come.

Go Camping

Enjoy that great springtime weather by really getting out into nature. Look for a pet-friendly campground or make your own site. Just be sure to pack any essentials for your pet in addition to your own: food, clean water, bowls, bedding, pick-up bags, a grooming kit if you need it, and an extra collar and leash. Consider a cooling vest and booties as well, to keep your pet safe in all kinds of weather. Make sure your pet is fully vaccinated to protect against fleas and ticks, and consider investing in a tick removal kit for maximum safety. Finally, make sure your pet is clearly identified in case you are separated; easy-to-read dog tags are important, but microchipping is best.

Easter Gifts for Your Pet

Every other member of your family has their own decorative egg; why can’t your pet? When dyeing eggs this year, select one, write your pet’s name on it in white crayon, and hide it in the yard along with the rest of the family’s eggs. If your family celebrates with Easter baskets, fill one with treats, toys, and other goodies your pet will love.

Get rid of some of the winter lethargy and get your dog interested by creating an agility course in your backyard!
